A fake digital self

Digital technologies are now integrated into our everyday life, they are ubiquitous and require the creation of a profile in which to present ourselves. Our digital self!
The digital self is one of the dimensions of our existence, which interacts with other aspects of ourselves, influencing, in turn, the way in which we develop and evolve as individuals in our daily lives.
The digital self is not, in any case, a spontaneous and reckless reflection of our inner self, as it requires organization, planning, strategy, essentially, while it also needs maintenance from us, in order to meet the demands of digital reality, whether it concerns Instagram, or Facebook, or Twitter, or TikTok, or any other digital platform.
Each medium has its own grammar, which we must follow in order to receive positive feedback and not be the recipient of toxic unblocking penalties due to hate speech and cyberbullying, which we may engage in due to the supposed anonymity and invisibility they afford us. digital social networks.
Our digital self, but also the digital self of others in digital social networks, multiplies our possibilities, experiences and emotions, as they bring us face to face with a multitude of stimuli, which in the physical world, we do not encounter to such an extent.
In fact, we are bombarded with information that affects us to the extent that we make social comparisons with digital others. A comparison that makes us mentally vulnerable. We constantly feel that we are falling behind in something, even though we know that what we see does not fully and always correspond to reality. An aspect of reality is projected, which can be past or even purely false, staged in such a way that it seems real and, at the same time, ideal. At the same time, we measure ourselves by likes, comments and define ourselves based on that. Something that makes us run an endless, without end, essentially, a struggle to recognize our existence, in which we inevitably fail, due to the trap of social comparison, to which we subject ourselves.
At the same time, digital technologies do not allow us to reflect on the past and plan for the future, as the fear of missing out on what is happening and current affairs prevails. Something that makes time full and fragmented, that prevents any need and desire of ours for daydreaming and in general, contact with ourselves to understand what is important and necessary for us. In short, digital technologies postpone our decision to define what we are, but also what we can become, based on our skills and desires.
Therefore, it is understandable that digital technologies catalyze the way we perceive and define ourselves. Therefore, we need to use digital social networks correctly and wisely, bearing in mind that what we see does not fully correspond to reality.
Don't be a victim of technology, but use it to your advantage!
